📋 Overview

The Doomsday Heist is the hardest heist series in GTA Online and the one that requires the most coordination. It's split into three acts — you must complete Act I and Act II before Act III unlocks. Act III pays $1.5M but has a notoriously difficult finale involving a nuclear submarine, a flying carrier assault, and one of the most chaotic gunfights in the game.

Most crews fail the finale multiple times before their first clean run. The submarine section and the orbital cannon assault both punish poor communication and undergeared players hard. Once your crew has it down, though, it becomes consistent — and repeatable Act III runs pay well for a group that already knows the routes and roles cold.

This is not a beginner heist. Treat your first full playthrough of all three acts as a learning session, not a speedrun, and expect it to take several hours the first time through.

Not For Undergeared Crews

Do not attempt Act III with an uncoordinated or underleveled crew, or without a full combat loadout. The finale is relentless combat with no room for silence or guesswork — go in undergeared and you will wipe repeatedly.

🔑 What You Need First
1
Own a Facility Required
The Facility is your base of operations for the entire Doomsday Heist series. You cannot start any act without one — buy it from the Maze Bank Foreclosures website before doing anything else.
2
Complete Act I — The Data Breaches Required
Act I is the shortest and easiest of the three acts and pays $650,000. It's mandatory before Act II unlocks, and it's a good gauge of whether your crew can communicate well enough for what's coming.
3
Complete Act II — The Bogdan Problem Required
Act II pays $812,000 and is mandatory before Act III unlocks. It introduces some of the vehicle and hacking mechanics you'll need to be comfortable with for the Act III finale.
4
4-Player Crew Recommended
Doomsday is balanced around a full 4-player crew. 2 players is possible but significantly harder — you'll be stretched thin across roles that were designed to be split among four people.
5
Full Combat Loadout Recommended
Armour, snacks, and a good Hydra pilot on the crew. The Act III finale is combat-heavy from start to finish — showing up under-supplied is the fastest way to burn through a session with nothing to show for it.
👥 Crew Roles & Preparation

Doomsday has no scoping and no stealth/loud choice to plan around. What matters instead is who does what. Sort your roles out before you launch Act III, not mid-mission — the finale moves fast and there's no time to figure out who's driving what once bullets start flying.

Dedicated Stromberg Submarine Driver Assign This
One player should captain the Stromberg submarine through the Act III underwater section while the rest of the crew covers from jets. This is the most difficult phase of the entire heist — pick your steadiest, calmest teammate for it.
Best Pilot Flies the Hydra Assign This
The carrier assault section hinges on whoever is in the Hydra jet. Give this role to your most confident VTOL pilot — a shaky Hydra pilot can turn an otherwise clean run into a wipe.
Communication Is Mandatory Non-Negotiable
This is not a heist you can quietly muddle through with a silent crew. Voice chat or a headset is effectively required — too many phases depend on real-time callouts between the sub, the jets, and the ground team.
Budget 3–4 Hours For a First Playthrough Plan Ahead
A crew's first full run through all three acts — including retries — realistically takes 3 to 4 hours. Don't schedule it for a night when everyone needs to log off in 45 minutes.
🎯 Act III Structure

Unlike Cayo Perico or the Casino Heist, Doomsday doesn't let you pick a stealth or loud route. Act III has a fixed structure that every crew runs the same way — the only variable is how well you execute it.

🔵 2–4 Players Required
Flexibility
No approach choice — fixed structure across all 3 acts. Unlike Cayo or Casino, Doomsday doesn't offer alternate entry points or a stealth/loud fork. Every crew plays through the same sequence in the same order.
🔵 Submarine Section
Difficulty
The most difficult phase of Act III. One player drives the Stromberg submarine while the rest of the crew covers from jets overhead. Coordinate roles carefully before starting — this is where most first attempts fall apart.
🔴 Full Armour Recommended
Combat Intensity
The finale is extremely combat-heavy. The orbital cannon facility assault is relentless from the moment you land. Stock up on armour and snacks before you start — you will not get a quiet moment to resupply mid-mission.
💰 Act Payouts & Bonuses

Doomsday pays out per act rather than a single lump sum, plus a bonus for clearing all three in one sitting. Here's the full breakdown.

# Act Payout Notes
#1 Act III Finale $1,500,000 Requires Acts I & II complete
#2 All 3 Acts Bonus +$375,000 One-session completion bonus
#3 Act II — The Bogdan Problem $812,000 Prerequisite
#4 Act I — The Data Breaches $650,000 Prerequisite, unlocks the series

Add it up and a first full clean playthrough of all three acts in one session — Act I + Act II + Act III + the all-acts bonus — comes to roughly $650K + $812K + $1.5M + $375K bonus ≈ $3.34M. That's a one-time total, not a per-hour rate; after that, Acts I and II are done for good and Act III becomes your repeatable grind.

⏱️ First Full Playthrough vs Repeat Grinding

Your first time through Doomsday looks nothing like a repeat run. Here's the difference between clearing the whole series for the first time and grinding Act III once your crew already knows it cold.

First full playthrough (Acts I + II + III, budget 3–4 hours):

0:00 Act I — The Data Breaches — setup + finale, shortest of the three acts +$650K
~1:00 Act II — The Bogdan Problem — setup + finale +$812K
~2:00 Act III setup — assign roles, gear up, run the setup missions
~3:00 Act III finale — submarine section into the orbital cannon assault +$1.5M
~3–4hr One-session total, including all-acts bonus ~$3.34M

Repeat grinding (Act III only, once your crew has it down):

0:00 Setup missions — no cooldown between cycles, launch straight into it
1:00 Finale run — submarine and orbital cannon assault, clean execution +$1.5M
2:00 Cycle complete — restart immediately, no cooldown ~$750K/hr

Pro Tips & Common Mistakes
  • Complete all three acts in order — you cannot skip ahead, and Acts I and II unlock the ability to even start Act III. Budget 3–4 hours for your first full run through all three.
  • The Stromberg submarine section in Act III is where most crews wipe — one player drives, the rest cover in jets. Nail down who's doing what before you launch, not after you're already in the mission.
  • Stock up on full armour and snacks before the finale — there's no clean moment to resupply once the orbital cannon assault starts. Go in under-supplied and you'll be restarting within minutes.
  • Assign your best pilot to the Hydra jet for the carrier assault — this single role decides how smoothly that phase goes for the whole crew.
  • Completing all 3 acts in one session pays an extra $375K bonus — worth pushing through in a single sitting if your crew has the time and patience for it.
  • Host rotation matters — the host pays the setup costs for each act, so rotate who's hosting across sessions if you're running this with a regular crew.
  • Over-communicate rather than under-communicate — call out enemy positions, ammo status, and vehicle damage constantly. Silence is how the submarine section and the finale both go wrong.
  • Expect multiple failed attempts before your first clean run — this is normal for Doomsday. Don't let a wipe demoralize the crew; reset, regroup, and go again.
  • Don't attempt Act III under-levelled or under-armed — this heist assumes a crew that already has decent weapons, armour, and vehicle familiarity. It's not a good first heist for brand-new players.
  • Once your crew has it down, Act III alone becomes the repeatable grind — no cooldown between cycles means a practiced crew can chain runs back to back for a steady ~$750K/hr.
